Faith Forward’s Catholic catechist resources provide a complete catechesis syllabus from Grade 1 to Grade 11. Curriculum coordinators can plan the parish programme as a whole, while each volunteer catechist has a defined workbook for the group they are teaching.
Faith Forward is not intended as occasional supplementary material. The Grade 1–11 workbook series is divided into three phases. Each phase corresponds with a group of grades and a particular stage in the learner’s faith development. A separate Bridging Programme supports young people preparing for Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist without first completing Phase 1.
Each catechesis group can be matched with the workbook for its grade and age. These Catholic catechist resources therefore give the coordinator a clear structure for assigning workbooks, calculating quantities and confirming what each class will cover during the year.
Each workbook provides structured material for a full catechetical year designed for the learner’s age and stage of development.
The Scripture readings, explanations, discussions, activities, tasks and reflections are included in the workbook. Catechists can prepare from the next session instead of searching for a separate lesson every week.
The catechist and every learner work from the same book. The catechist can prepare the session, guide the class through the material and see what the learners are completing.
Learners who miss a session can also complete the relevant material before returning to the next class.
A catechist may miss a week, need assistance or step away from the group.
Because the class follows a defined workbook sequence, another catechist can identify where the group stopped and continue from that point. The programme does not depend entirely on one volunteer’s personal notes or memory.
